Blessings, God, Sacrifices: Possible Rational Explanations of Biblical Ideas
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper, we show that many seemingly irrational Biblical ideas can actually be rationally interpreted: God is everywhere, only say what not, God’s name holy, why cannot you bless as people want, etc. We do not insist on our interpretations, there probably are others, sole objective was to explained.

Modeling God’s Attributes and the Biblical God is a Scientifically Rational Concept
In this article, the intuitive aspects used to model mathematically God’s Biblically implied attributes are presented. The findings are fully described essentially in non-technical terms. These results counter all secular statements that claim that aspects of the Biblically described God concept are “irrational.” The results specifically show that they are rational from the viewpoint of (classi...
متن کاملScience and God: An automatic opposition between ultimate explanations
Science and religion have come into conflict repeatedly throughout history, and one simple reason for this is the two offer competing explanations for many of the same phenomena. We present evidence that the conflict between these two concepts can occur automatically, such that increasing the perceived value of one decreases the automatic evaluation of the other. In Experiment 1, scientific the...
متن کاملPart II: Translating the Biblical Term ‘Son(s) of God’ in Muslim Contexts
International Journal of Frontier Missions 22:4 Winter 2005•135 Summary of the problem In part one, “Explaining the Biblical Term ‘Son(s) of God’ in Muslim Contexts,” we saw that the term ‘son(s) of God’ has a broad range of meanings. For most Muslims, however, this term has one meaning only, and that is God’s offspring by a sexual union. Worse yet, many Muslims are so frightened of this term t...
متن کاملCollective Actions and Rational Choice Explanations
In order for rational choice theory (RCT) to explain the production of collective action, it must be able to distinguish between two behaviorally identical possibilities: one, that all of the agents in a group are each performing behaviors in pursuit of a set of individual actions; and two, that all of those agents are performing those behaviors in pursuit of a collective action. I argue that t...
متن کاملRational and Semi-Rational Explanations of the Conjunction Fallacy: A Polycausal Approach
Conjunction fallacies (CF) have not only been a major obstacle in justifying the rationality of a Bayesian theory of belief update; they have also inspired a variety of theories on probability judgment and logical predication. Here we provide an overview of Bayesian logic (BL) as rational formulation of a pattern-based class of conjunction fallacies. BL is described here as a generalization of ...
